LEADERSHIP
GABE CAMALO PRESIDENT & OWNER, CAMALO ENERGY RESOURCES
Gabe founded Camalo Energy Resources after more than two decades in petroleum land — serving as a landman, project manager, and partner at one of the region’s established firms.
He’s negotiated leases, cured complex chains of title, secured pipeline ROW, and managed multi-state due diligence efforts spanning thousands of acres across 25+ producing states.
Title research has always been his favorite part of the job.
Not because it’s glamorous.
But because that’s where precision matters most.
An Unusual Combination
Gabe’s path into land work shaped how he practices it.
He earned a liberal arts degree from The Citadel — an education rooted in research, analysis, and disciplined thinking. The liberal arts background sharpened his ability to interpret language, follow historical chains of ownership, and see patterns others miss.
Military school added something else:
Structure.
Accountability.
Follow-through.
In land work, those traits matter.
Research must be thorough.
Documentation must be exact.
Communication must be clear.
Discipline isn’t optional. It’s foundational.
Broader Energy Perspective
Early in his career, Gabe worked in the downstream sector of a Fortune 500 energy company, giving him insight into how projects move beyond land — through financing, construction, operations, and regulatory oversight.
That perspective informs how CER approaches every project:
Land work isn’t the end goal.
It’s the foundation that supports everything that follows.
Industry Involvement
Gabe is actively involved in the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and regional chapters including LAPL, HAPL, DAPL, and PBLA.
He also served on the board of One Acadiana, supporting business and workforce development across the region.
Outside of Work
When he’s not working through title or negotiating terms, Gabe spends time with his two young children, hunts when he can, grills often, and follows LSU football.
Land work requires precision.
Life requires balance.
